What is a Literotica Series?
If Literotica authors publish Stories, what is a Literotica Series and how do Series work?
A Series is a group of Stories an author intends to be read together. The simplest example of a Series in traditional print is a novel or short story collection. In the case of a novel, the chapters would be Stories and the novel would be the Series. In a short story collection, the book itself is the Series and the short stories are the Stories.
You might think of a Series as an author-created container for a set of Stories.
Many Literotica Authors enjoy publishing their fiction in short episodes at regular weekly or monthly intervals, rather than waiting months or years to publish a full novel length work. Series allow authors to join short episodes together to create a single longer story.
Above is the Literotica Series Icon. When you see the Series Icon anywhere on the site, you can be sure there’s something related to a Series nearby.
Series are created by authors, so all of the information you see on a Series Page or Series Card has been provided by the author of that Series. Authors may create a Series and then publish Stories inside of it over time (an ongoing Series) or they might group Stories into a Series after they are finished writing all of the Stories (a completed Series).
Information available about each Series includes:
- Series Title
- Series Description
- Series Introduction
- Series Author
- Date the first part was published
- Date the most recent part was published
- Status (Completed or Ongoing)
- Combined Stats for all parts of the Series
- Series Cover Art
Authors may optionally mark a Series as “Completed” when they are finished adding Stories to the Series. A “Completed” Series might be seen as a novel where all of the chapters - first to last - have been written and published.
